Minya Konka Classic Trekking: Witness the Full Splendor of "King of Sichuan’s Mountains"

Standing in Garzê Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Sichuan, Mount Minya Konka(Gongga) has a main peak of 7,556 meters, making it Sichuan’s highest mountain. The Minya Konka(Gongga) Classic Trekking offers trekkers a 360-degree view of this majestic "King of Sichuan’s Mountains." With high difficulty, it requires plateau trekking experience. The optimal time to visit is June to November.

Minya Konka, one of the ten most beautiful snow mountains in China, is located on the eastern edge of the QingTibet Plateau, which means “white ice mountain”, its the main peak is 7556m altitude, the highest peak in Sichuan Province, called "the King of Sichuan Mountains." It is also one of the most sacred mountains to Tibetan Buddhists. Masherbrum operates Nochma Peak and Reddomain Peak expeditions in Minya Konka massif.

Reddomain Glacier is a huge oceanic glacier underneath the Reddomain peak, surrounded by snow mountains: Jiazi 6540m, Grovenor 6376m,Reddomain 6112m. Reddomain Glacial Lake formed by the melting water of the Reddomain glacier.

Both Reddomain glacier and lake is close to Minya Konka classic trekking route. Based on Reddomain adventure and Minya Konka trekking operation experience, Masherbrum now launch the combination trekking trip, the enthusiasts have chance to enjoy the beauty of both Reddomain glacier, glacial lake and the trekking of Minya Konka in the one trip.

Minya Konka Trekking is one of the top ten classic trekking routes in China. Konka Temple and Zimei Pass are excellent places to enjoy the stunning view of Minya Konka Snow Mountain. Crossing the 4900m of Riwuqie mountain pass is a challenge and wonderful experience. Members have chance to boat on Reddomain glacial lake.

DAY 1 Arrival at Chengdu Gear&Equipment check

Arrival at Chengdu, checkin Chengdu hotel(4 star standard). We will have Gear&Equipment check and hold itinerary berifing,sign the trekking agreement.

DAY 2 Chengdu-Kangding 270km

Today we will start from Chengdu, drive on ChengduKangding Expressway, arrive in Kangding city. Take acclimation in Kangding.

DAY 3 Gexi Grassland-8km-Liangcha River Valley-8km- Upper Riwuqie

Hiking starts from Gexi grassland. Along the way, we can enjoy the spectacular Tianhaizi Peak (6070m), Little Konka (6027m), also see the Red Stone River Beach, pass by Liangchahe.We will arrive in Upper Riwuqie before the evening.

DAY 4 Reddomain Glacier and Lake

Today we wil visit Reddomain glacier, have chance to enjoy the glacier travel and boating on the glacial lake. Stay in Reddomain base camp.

DAY 5 Reddomain BC -3km-Riwuqie Pass-12km-Moxi Valley-9km-Winter Pasture

Today is a challenging day! We will hike up to Riwuqie Pass 4900m, the biggest challenge on the whole trekking. However ongoing up,you have a chance to enjoy the scenery of Redomain,Riquqie peaks and glacial lake. After pass, you enter into Moxi Valley,Winter Pasture of Minya Konka region and have a wonderful view of Daddomain Peak and lake.

DAY 6 Winter Pasture-18km-Konka Temple

We will trek along Moxi Valley to Konka Temple, you will meet Daddomain and Langermanyin Peaks on the valley. Take carefully when cross the valley river. Slowly going up to Konka Temple - Pilgrimage destination for local Tibetan. Konka Temple is also the best place to enjoy the stunning view of Minya Konka 7556m.

DAY 7 Konka Temple-7km-Lower Zimei Village -11KM（by car）- Zimei Pass-11KM（by car）-Lower Zimei Village

Today is a short trekking day. We leave Konka Temple, relatively gentle downhill to Lower Zimei Village. Afterwards we will take local car to Zimei Pass. Here, you can enjoy a stunning view of Minya Konka, then return to Lower Zimei Village by car.

Time: 2 hours trekking for 7km

DAY 8 Lower Zimei Village-9km-Bawang Lake-7km- Boundary Tablet-30km（by car）-Caoke

After breakfast, we will walk in the valley and watch the beautiful mountains and rivers. We will also hike along lakeside of Bawang Lake and go through the forest. Our bus will pick up at Boundary Tablet then send to the Caoke town, now we eventually complete the trekking of Minya Konka! Enjoy hot spring and celebration dinner tonight.

Alternative route: if Bawang Lake bridge is broken during the raining weather, the route will change to Zimei Mountain Pass by car instead of Caoke route.

DAY 9 Caoke-Shimian-266km-Chengdu

We return to Chengdu from Caoke by Shimian along Dadu River, will arrive in Chengdu after 15:00pm as usual. The unstable road conditions would cause the high risk of traffic jam, suggest that you book the return flight after 20:00pm.
